What GAF President's Club Recognition Means for Your Roof
The GAF President's Club sits at the top of GAF’s contractor program, and in 2020 GAF named Thrush & Son to it. We’re still proud of that day, but a trophy only matters if it changes something for the family living under the roof: who shows up, how the roof goes on, and which warranty stands behind it.
This guide explains how roofers earn the GAF President's Club, using GAF’s own criteria, which warranties it opens up, and how to vet any roofer before you sign.

The Climb: What Each GAF Level Unlocks
GAF publishes which of its warranties each kind of contractor can offer. Tap a step to see what your roof could carry. The higher the step, the more coverage is on the table, and the flag marks the summit.
Not certified
A roofer with no GAF credential can still install GAF shingles, but GAF lists only its two standard limited warranties for that roof.
- Roofing System
- Shingle & Accessories
- System Plus
- Silver Pledge™
- Golden Pledge®
GAF Certified™
Adds the System Plus Limited Warranty. GAF requires certified contractors to be licensed and insured where required, and it weighs experience and customer reviews.

The 3 Pillars of the GAF President's Club
GAF says the GAF President's Club recognizes excellence in three areas: performance, reliability, and service. Here’s what GAF measures, and what each pillar looks like on a Thrush & Son job site.
Performance
What GAF looks forOver the prior year, the contractor installed a minimum number of complete GAF roofing systems that qualify for GAF’s highest warranties.
How we live itFor us, that means every roof goes on as a full system: starter strip, underlayment, shingles, ridge caps, and ventilation that work together.
Reliability
What GAF looks forGAF looks for a consistent track record. Its 3-star winners are the ones with the longest, most consistent history with GAF products.
How we live itWe’ve installed GAF roofing across the Miami Valley for decades, with the same family leading the company since 1960.
Service
What GAF looks forWinners must keep consistently excellent customer reviews, not just high volume.
How we live itClean job sites, clear communication, and a crew that walks the finished roof with you before we call it done.
According to GAF, fewer than half of the contractors in its top certification tier earn the GAF President's Club in a given year. When GAF announced its 2019 winners, it put the number at only one or two percent of roofing contractors nationwide. Those odds are why the award means something. It can’t be bought with a sign-up fee; it’s earned with a year of finished roofs and the reviews of the people who own them.
How We Earned the GAF President's Club
The GAF President's Club didn’t arrive in one season. It grew out of six decades of roofs built the same careful way, by a family whose name is on the truck.

What the Award Doesn’t Promise
We’d rather you hear this from us than find it out later. An award is a strong signal, but it has limits, and a good roofer will tell you what they are.
It isn’t a warranty
The award opens the door to GAF’s top warranties, but your coverage comes from the warranty you’re actually registered for. Ask which one, and get the paperwork.
It isn’t permanent
GAF evaluates contractors every year, and each award covers a set period. A plaque from years ago doesn’t prove what a company is doing now, so ask about current status.
It doesn’t fit every roof
Golden Pledge coverage requires a qualifying GAF roofing system and specific installation steps. If an old roof deck needs work first, a good contractor tells you before the tear-off, not after.
Vet Any Roofer in Six Questions
An award like the GAF President's Club is a shortcut, not a substitute for asking questions. Check off each item your roofer can prove. Get all six and the flag goes up.
0–2: keep shopping.
3–5: ask for the missing proof in writing.
All 6: you’ve found a roofer worth trusting.
Our roofing estimates guide shows what a complete quote should list, and Roofing Components Explained covers every layer of a full system, from starter strip to ridge cap. Bring both to your next appointment and compare every answer side by side.

The Team Behind the Award

When you call, you reach our own office, and after hours Michelle, our AI assistant, answers around the clock. The same family name stands behind the roof long after the crew drives away, and that consistency is a big part of how a family company keeps its reviews strong year after year.
