Questions about the home exterior design center

What kind of photo works best?
A straight-on shot of the front of your house, taken in daylight, as a .jpg or .png. Overcast days actually work better than bright sun, because hard shadows confuse the rendering.
- Move cars, trash cans and the garden hose out of frame
- Stand back far enough to get the whole elevation, including the roofline
- Hold the camera level rather than tilting up at the house

Do I need to create an account?
You can browse products and experiment without one. Saving a design so you can come back to it later does require an account, and that is also what lets you share the design with us before your appointment.
How do I outline my house?
The tool walks you through tracing the areas you want to change: siding, roof, trim, doors, windows. Click points around the edge of each surface and adjust them until the shape matches.
Take your time on this part. A careful outline is the difference between a preview that looks like your house and one that looks like a sticker on your house. Work one surface at a time.
Are these the actual products you install?
Yes. The product library holds real manufacturer lines, colors and profiles, which is why this is more useful than a generic color app. What you pick is something we can actually order and install.
Screen color is never a perfect match for a physical sample, though. We bring real samples to every estimate so you see the color against your brick, trim and landscaping in daylight.
Can I use it on my phone?
It works, but a desktop or tablet is much easier. Tracing outlines with a fingertip on a small screen is fiddly, and you want to see the detail when you are comparing colors.
What do I do with the design once I have one?
Save it, or screenshot it, and bring it to your estimate. Our team can pull up the products you chose and talk about what they cost, how they perform on your roof pitch or exposure, and whether anything needs adjusting.
It makes the appointment shorter and the conversation better, because we start from what you already want instead of guessing at it.
Does designing something commit me to anything?
No. Play with it as long as you like. Plenty of homeowners use it a year before they are ready to do the work, and that is fine.
