The system nobody thinks about until it fails
Expert gutter installation starts with seamless aluminum gutters formed on site and cut to the exact length of every run on your house.
Thousands of gallons run off your roof every year, and an expert gutter system is what decides where they land. That decides whether your fascia stays sound, your siding stays clean and your basement stays dry. When a gutter sags, separates or overflows, the damage starts somewhere you cannot see.
Thrush & Son® has done expert gutter work from Brookville since 1960, three generations in. Same crew for the measure, the fabrication and the install, and a written price before anything starts.
Four parts that have to work together
An expert gutter system is only as good as the weakest piece attached to it. Here is the path every drop takes.
- 01
Seamless aluminum gutters
Formed on site to the exact length of each run, in heavy-gauge aluminum, with the only joints at corners and outlets.
- 02
Hangers, miters and elbows
The hardware every failed gutter has in common. Spaced and fastened for real Ohio snow load, mitered clean at the corners.
- 03
Downspouts placed properly
Custom bends, extensions and outlet sizing so water actually leaves the foundation, sized for the roof area they drain.
- 04
Sound fascia behind it all
A gutter is only as solid as the board it hangs on. If the fascia is soft, we tell you before we hang anything.
Sized to your roof, not a catalog. We size every expert gutter run to the roof area it drains, then step up to a larger gutter and oversized downspouts where a roof is long, steep or dumps onto a porch. The goal is simple: in a hard Ohio downpour, nothing should spill over the front edge, and nothing should pool against the foundation.
Seams are where gutters leak
Sectional gutters join every ten feet or so, and every joint is a future drip. On a 40-foot run that is three places for water to escape. Expert gutter installation from Thrush & Son means one continuous piece formed in our truck in your driveway, so the only joints are at corners and outlets.
Heavy-gauge aluminum, hangers spaced for real Ohio snow load, and downspouts placed to carry water away from the foundation instead of beside it. Pair new gutters with a roof replacement and the whole roofline is finished at once. That is what expert gutter work looks like up close: straight runs, consistent pitch toward each outlet, and hangers you never see from the street.
Stop cleaning gutters. Permanently.
Professional-grade stainless steel micromesh that blocks leaves and pine needles while water flows straight through. Add it to any expert gutter install, or to the gutters you already have.
Z-Bend technology
A structural bend that stops the mesh flexing or collapsing under weight.
0.027-gauge aluminum frame
Heavier than most guards on the market, so it handles ice and snow load.
Micromesh filtration
Fine enough to stop pine needles and shingle grit, open enough for a downpour.
Lifetime transferable warranty
American-made, and the warranty follows the house when you sell it.
Pick your gutters. Pick your fascia.
Every expert gutter job starts with color. Pick a gutter color and a fascia color and watch them land on a real Brookville home.
Colors are approximate. We bring physical samples to every estimate.
Choose a gutter color and a fascia color. The swatch, the name and the house all update together.
1. Gutter colorSeamless gutters · 16 colors
Aluminum trim coil · 16 colors
Black gutters on a white house have become the look. Matching the gutters to the fascia makes them disappear. Both are right, depending on the house. Not sure? Our expert gutter crew will hold real samples against your trim. Want to see siding too? Try the design center.
When water runs behind the gutter
A clogged or sagging gutter stops draining where it should and starts running down the back edge instead. That water soaks the fascia board, peels the paint, and rots the wood your whole gutter system hangs on. Fasteners loosen, sections shift, and it gets worse every time it rains.
If you are seeing any of those signs, the problem is the roofline, not just the gutter. Hanging a new gutter on bad fascia buys you a year, and no expert gutter crew should do it. We replace the rotted board and wrap it in aluminum coil, in any of the 16 colors above, so it never needs paint again.
Four signs the fascia is failing
- Staining or streaking near the roof edge
- Dripping behind the gutter instead of out of it
- Soft spots or peeling paint along the trim
- Gutters pulling away from the house
Already planning a refresh? Wrapped fascia pairs with new siding replacement and seasonal home maintenance.
Gutter questions, answered straight
The ones homeowners ask us standing in the driveway looking up.
Do I need new gutters, or can mine be fixed?
A loose hanger, a separated seam or a pitch problem on one run can usually be fixed without replacing anything.
New gutters make sense when runs sag along their length, seams are failing in several places, or the gutters are undersized for the roof area they drain. We will tell you which it is.
What makes seamless gutters better than sectional?
Seams are where gutters leak. Sectional gutters join every ten feet or so, and every one of those joints is a future failure point. Seamless gutters are formed on site to the exact length of your run, so the only joints are at corners and downspout outlets.
Will gutters really protect my foundation?
Yes, when the downspouts are placed and extended properly. Roof runoff dumped beside the house is one of the most common causes of basement water and erosion in the Miami Valley.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency lists roof drainage and downspout extensions among the first steps in protecting a home from water damage. Where the water lands matters as much as the gutter itself.
Are gutter guards worth it?
If you have trees, yes. A good micromesh guard like WaterLock Pro turns twice-a-year cleaning into an occasional look. Cheap plastic screens are a different story and often make clogs worse.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
At least twice a year without guards, in late spring and after the leaves drop. More often if trees overhang the roof.
This Old House has a good walkthrough if you plan to do it yourself. If your roof is steep or two stories, that is a job worth handing off.
