Is vinyl siding really durable?
Yes. Vinyl siding is made from PVC, so it won't rot, peel or blister like painted wood. Quality panels are built to resist cracking, warping and everyday dents when they're installed correctly.
Is vinyl siding resistant to moisture?
Yes. Vinyl siding doesn't absorb water, so the panels themselves won't rot or grow mold. What keeps the wall behind them dry is the installation: house wrap, flashing and proper trim at every opening.
Can severe weather affect vinyl siding?
Vinyl siding is engineered for wind, heavy rain and big temperature swings. Panels lock together and are fastened so they can expand and contract with the seasons, which is how they ride out an Ohio winter.

What is insulated siding?
Insulated siding is vinyl siding with a layer of rigid foam permanently attached to the back of each panel. The foam adds insulation, stiffens the panel so the wall looks flatter and straighter, and improves impact resistance.
What is R-value?
R-value measures how well a material resists heat flow. The higher the number, the better it insulates. Insulated siding adds R-value across the whole wall, including the studs that regular insulation can't cover.
How can I be sure vinyl siding will perform as promised?
Choose products certified to industry standards, like those from the Vinyl Siding Institute, and hire a contractor who installs them the way the manufacturer requires. Proper installation is what keeps the warranty in force.
How do I clean vinyl siding?
A garden hose and mild soap handle most dirt. For tougher spots, use a soft-bristle brush and a cleaner the manufacturer approves. Wash from the bottom up and rinse from the top down so you don't leave streaks.
