How To Prepare for Your Next Home Improvement Project in 2013
Knowing how to prepare for your next home improvement project can make the installation process smoother, safer, and more efficient for both homeowners and the installation crew. Whether you are installing new windows, replacing siding, or upgrading exterior features, a little preparation ahead of time helps protect your property and ensures the project moves forward without unnecessary delays.
At Thrush & Son, our crews work hard to complete projects quickly while maintaining a clean and organized job site. Preparing your home and outdoor spaces in advance allows our team to focus on delivering quality craftsmanship while minimizing disruptions to your daily routine.
How To Prepare Your Home Before the Crew Arrives
Before work begins, homeowners should take a few simple steps to clear work areas and protect valuable belongings. Moving vehicles, outdoor furniture, and personal items away from the work zone allows the crew to safely access the areas where improvements will be made. Inside the home, removing blinds, curtains, and decorative items near windows helps prevent accidental damage during installation.
How To Prepare Outdoor Areas for Home Improvement Work
Exterior projects often require ladders, tools, and materials to be moved around the property. Marking delicate landscaping, clearing patios, and removing yard ornaments can help prevent accidental damage. Preparing these areas ahead of time also allows installers to move efficiently between tasks, which can help your project stay on schedule.
How To Prepare for a Safe and Smooth Project Experience
Safety is always a top priority during any home improvement project. Homeowners should keep children and pets away from the work area and be aware that tools, materials, and debris may be present during construction. Our team sweeps driveways and walkways daily, but we still recommend checking the area before walking through the job site.
The following checklist will help guide homeowners through the most important steps when planning how to prepare for a successful home improvement project.
About Thrush & Son®
Thrush & Son Complete Home Improvement Company was founded in 1960 by Wilbur Allen Thrush Sr. as Thrush Spouting in Phillipsburg, Ohio, focusing on installing gutter systems and roofs for local homes. With a commitment to quality and hard work, Wilbur built a reputation in the Dayton area. In 1969, the company was renamed Thrush & Son when his son, Allen Thrush, joined the business. They acquired their first branded truck, a red 1969 Dodge one-ton, marking expansion. By the 1980s, they had grown steadily, emphasizing dependable service. In 1989, Allen and his wife Michelle purchased the company from Wilbur, who shifted to well drilling.
Under Allen’s leadership, Thrush & Son opened its first office and showroom in Brookville, Ohio, in 1990 on Market Street, followed by a warehouse at 201 Sycamore Street in 1995. The company diversified into full exterior remodeling, including siding, windows, doors, and insulation, serving Southwest Ohio. By 2011, Allen’s son Corey joined after earning a management degree and playing professional baseball, becoming the third generation. Up to 2013, Thrush & Son earned community trust through awards and certifications, culminating in sponsoring NASCAR driver Jason Bowles in the historic 2013 Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway.
