Thrush & Son® Named a Best of Dayton 2026 Finalist
Update, June 26, 2026: The results are in. The Dayton Daily News named Thrush & Son® a Best of Dayton 2026 finalist. That follows our 2024 win and our 2025 finalist finish. Thank you to every homeowner who voted. The story below is our original post from April, when voting opened.
Best of Dayton 2026 is one of those moments that means a little more. Thrush & Son® was named a finalist this year, our third straight year of recognition from the community we serve, after winning in 2024 and making the finals in 2025.
After 66 years of working on homes across the Miami Valley, this isn’t just about the business. It’s about the people, the projects, and the trust behind every vote. This year we also launched on Threads, so there’s a new place to keep up with us, too.

Three years, three times on the Best of Dayton podium. Tap a year to see what it meant to us.
Winner
The first time our name came out of the envelope. Dayton homeowners voted Thrush & Son® the winner, and our crews still talk about the day the news came in.
Finalist
Back on the ballot and back among the finalists. Proof that 2024 wasn’t a one-time thing, and a reminder that the votes come from real jobs on real homes.
Finalist
A third straight year of recognition. Being named a Best of Dayton 2026 finalist puts us beside some of the most respected businesses in the region, and we don’t take it lightly.

Why Best of Dayton 2026 Matters to Us
The Best of Dayton 2026 finalists come from the community. That means every vote stands for an actual experience: a roof replacement before a storm season, a siding upgrade that changed how a house looks from the street, or a quick fix that kept water out when it mattered most.
Being on the Best of Dayton 2026 list puts us beside some of the most respected businesses in the region. It reflects consistency, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way on every job, not just the ones people see.
What the Best of Dayton 2026 Recognition Stands For
It’s not just about making the Best of Dayton 2026 finals. It’s about earning that trust again every day, on four things we refuse to compromise.
Generations of workmanship
Three generations of the Thrush family have stood behind every job since Wilbur Thrush started the company in 1960.
Systems, not shortcuts
Roofs, siding, and windows installed as complete systems, to the manufacturer’s specs, so the warranty means something.
Homeowner first
Clear quotes, straight answers, and a crew that treats your yard and driveway like their own.
Miami Valley roots
Headquartered in Brookville with offices in Troy and Lebanon, working on homes our neighbors live in.
Built on 66 Years of Experience
Since 1960, Thrush & Son® has helped homeowners throughout Dayton and the Miami Valley improve, protect, and upgrade their homes. More than 31,000 of them, at last count.
That kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from showing up, doing quality work, and standing behind it long after the job is done. We’ve watched the industry change, with better materials and smarter installation methods, and we’ve changed with it, without changing the values that got us here. See the results in our project gallery.

A Letter From the Thrush Family
When my father, Wilbur Thrush, started this company in 1960, there was no online voting and no awards page. There was a phone number, a truck, and a promise to do the job right. Every recognition since then, including Best of Dayton 2026, traces back to that promise.
I spent my career building on it, and now my son, Corey, is carrying it forward as the third generation. Our crews work in neighborhoods my father and I worked in, sometimes on the very same houses, a generation later. When a homeowner tells us their parents hired us too, that means more to me than any trophy.
So here’s what we’ll do with this honor: keep answering the phone, keep showing up when we say we will, keep cleaning up like it’s our own yard, and keep standing behind the work years after the last nail goes in. That’s the whole plan for the next 66 years.
To everyone who voted, referred a neighbor, or simply trusted us with your home: thank you. We don’t take any of it for granted.
W. Allen ThrushOwner, second generation
