CedarBoards: siding with a solid core
Standard vinyl siding is a thin shell hung on the wall. CedarBoards insulated siding bonds a rigid foam backing to every panel, so the siding is stiffer, the walls look straighter and your home gets an extra layer of insulation outside the studs.
It’s one of the premium sidings we install across the Miami Valley, and this page covers everything you need to compare it.
- Up to R-2.7
- 180 mph wind load
- 18 colors
- Lifetime limited warranty
What’s inside every panel
- Vinyl faceThe cedar-look surface you see from the street, in 18 colors.
- Rigid foam backingShaped to the panel, so it supports the vinyl and adds insulation. CertainTeed treats it to resist insects and fire.
- House wrapA weather-resistive barrier behind the siding, part of a proper installation.
- Your wallSheathing and studs, now better protected from the outside.
That foam does more than insulate. Hollow vinyl can sag or ripple between nails, and it sounds thin when something bumps it. The backing fills the gap behind the panel, so the wall reads flat and solid, it shrugs off minor impacts better and it quiets outside noise a little.

XL Extended Length
16′ 8″ panelsThe 6″ and 7″ clapboards in longer panels, for up to 40% fewer seams on a 20-foot wall.
Why the XL panels matter: every seam is a spot your eye catches from the street, and on a long, sunny wall overlapping joints can stand out. Longer panels mean fewer overlaps, so the side of the house reads as one clean surface. We’ll point out which walls on your home would benefit at the estimate.
Try all 18 colors on a real home
Tap a color to see it on the siding. The roof, stone and trim stay exactly as they are.

When CedarBoards makes sense
Insulated siding costs more than standard vinyl, so it’s worth knowing when it pays off. It shines on older homes with wavy walls, on houses that feel drafty, on long walls where seams would show and on homes in windy, open areas.
It’s also a smart choice if you plan to stay in the house for years and want the exterior to stay straight and quiet the whole time.
Installation matters as much as the panel. Insulated siding needs the right nailing, room to expand and contract with Ohio’s temperature swings, and careful work around windows, doors and corners. That’s where a straight, tight wall comes from, and it’s what keeps the warranty in good standing.
Insulated siding isn’t a replacement for attic insulation, but it adds a continuous layer outside the studs that most walls don’t have. The U.S. Department of Energy explains how insulation works throughout a home.
